Introduction to home spa day
Hosting a spa day at home or for a ladies' gathering is a delightful way to indulge in relaxation and self-care. Crafting your own spa products not only adds a personal touch but also ensures the use of quality ingredients tailored to your preferences. Riverlea Soap offers a range of ingredients and products perfect for creating luxurious spa treatments. Here's how you can utilize them to make salt scrubs, soaps, and lotions for your spa day.

1. Invigorating Salt Scrub
Exfoliation is key to revitalizing the skin, and a homemade salt scrub can do wonders.
Ingredients:
Fine sea salt
Carrier oil (such as olive oil, coconut oil, or sweet almond oil)
Essential oils for fragrance (e.g., lavender, peppermint, or citrus)
Instructions:
In a bowl, combine 1 cup of fine sea salt with ½ cup of your chosen carrier oil.
Add 5-10 drops of essential oil for fragrance.
Mix thoroughly until you achieve a consistent texture.
Transfer the scrub into a clean, airtight jar.
Usage: Gently massage the scrub onto damp skin in circular motions, then rinse off with warm water. This will leave your skin feeling smooth and refreshed.

2. Handmade Soaps
Creating your own soaps allows for customization in terms of scent, colour, and skin benefits.
Ingredients:
Melt and pour soap base (available at Riverlea Soap)
Soap colourants (micas or natural powders)
Fragrance oils or essential oils
Additives like dried herbs, oatmeal, or exfoliants (optional)
Instructions:
Cut the soap base into small chunks and melt it using a double boiler or microwave, stirring occasionally.
Once melted, add your chosen colourants, fragrances, and any additives.
Pour the mixture into silicone molds.
Allow the soap to cool and harden completely before unmolding.
Tip: Experiment with layering different colours or embedding small soap shapes to create visually appealing designs.
3. Nourishing Lotion
A homemade lotion can provide deep hydration without the additives found in some commercial products. Please eremember that making lotion is quite a complex thing so here is a basic recipe but it is by no means perfect.
Ingredients:
Distilled water
Carrier oils (e.g., jojoba oil, almond oil)
Emulsifying wax
Essential oils for fragrance
Preservative (to extend shelf life, this is NOT negotiable)
Instructions:
Heat the carrier oils and emulsifying wax together until melted.
Warm the distilled water separately.
Slowly add the water to the oil mixture, blending continuously until emulsified.
Add essential oils and preservative as per recommended usage rates.
Pour the lotion into sterilized bottles and allow it to cool before sealing.
Note: Always use a preservative to prevent bacterial growth, especially when water is part of the formulation.
4. Bath Bombs
For a fizzy addition to your spa day, consider making bath bombs.
Ingredients:
Baking soda/ Bicarb
Citric acid
Cornstarch
Epsom salts
Carrier oil
Essential oils
Witch hazel (in a spray bottle)
Water soluble olourant (optional)
Instructions:
Mix 1 cup baking soda, ½ cup citric acid, ½ cup cornstarch, and ½ cup Epsom salts.
In a separate bowl, combine 2.5 tablespoons of carrier oil with 10-15 drops of essential oil and any colourant.
Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture, stirring continuously.
Spritz the mixture with witch hazel until it holds together when squeezed.
Pack the mixture into molds and let them dry for at least 24 hours before use.
